Karnataka State Open University

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) was started on 1st June 1996 underneath Karnataka State Open University act of 1992 with the aim of using the system and promoting the Open University and distance learning in the state of Karnataka, and coordinated the level of such a system.The headquarters is in Mysore. Karnataka State Open University is accredited by the Association with Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), China, Beijing, Regular member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi, The Distance Education Council (DEC) New Delhi, Permanent member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) London.

KSOU is in north-western tip of Mysore. Manasagangotri campus, which is about 5 km from the center in a quiet area suitable for the more academic activities. Currently the university has administrative offices, the academic block, auditorium, a well-stocked library, a House Guest Cottages, Moderate canteen, providing the girls hostel and some cabins for a small residential students coming to Mysore to participate in the term-end exams and contact programs.
